From the 19th July 2021 you are still required to wear a face mask and maintain a social distance from others if you are coming to the surgery for a pre-booked appointment. NHS visitor guidance will stay in place across all health services including hospitals, GP practices, dental practices, optometrists and pharmacies to ensure patients and staff are protected. The pandemic continues and as a surgery vulnerable patients with health issues, sick and those undergoing treatment are attending. Please continue to protect the NHS, yourself and others. Thank you.

For Medical Advice/Appointments: 

  • You cannot request a face to face GP appointment despite media coverage. 
    It is not law that we must offer one. Please do not be abusive to our reception team. 
    GP Contracts allow for us to provide services in a way that is safe and secure for us 
    during the ongoing pandemic. Following a GP telephone triage consultation you may 
    be asked by the GP to attend surgery.

Our flu vaccine clinics have been in great demand and uptake of the vaccine has been at its highest in years.  We are delighted that so many of our eligible patients have received their flu vaccine.  We still have vaccine stock available, so if you are over 65 years, or in at at risk category, have children aged 2 and 3 as at 31st August 2021or are in the new eligible cohort for 50-64s, please speak to our reception team or use your online services to schedule your appointment.  We look forward to seeing our patients soon and thank you for your continued support during the flu season.  Drs King & Partners


Vaccination Appointments: The Harlington vaccine site continues to offer vaccine clinics. All our clinics now cater for walk in vaccinations. Pre-booked appointments at The Harlington are not currently available to book via the National Booking System.  We will maintain contact with all patients regarding their vaccines however if you have not updated us recently with any changed contact details, if you have not heard from us and believe you are due your vaccine, please contact us by email at nehccg.richmondsurgery@nhs.net   Please avoid calling the surgery with your COVID queries as our telephone lines are extremely busy during the pandemic.  Your email will be passed to our dedicated COVID vaccine team who will respond as soon as possible.   


We continue to offer COVID Vaccine clinics at The Harlington in Fleet High Street.  Many of our patients have already received their booster vaccine in line with NHS England cohort guidelines.  We are about to start offering additional clinics to the following additional eligible cohorts just announced:

  • 40s and over – please be aware you cannot receive your booster until 6 months after your 2nd vaccine
  • 16 & 17 year old 2nd doses – please be aware you cannot receive your 2nd dose until 12 weeks after your 1st vaccine

Please wait to be contacted by the surgery OR when you reach your eligible date, The Harlington clinic’s are open for walk in – no appointment needed.

COVID-19 vaccine for people aged under 40

The chances of a younger person becoming seriously ill with COVID-19 get smaller as infection rates increasingly come under control in the UK. Considering this alongside the portfolio of vaccines available in the UK in the coming months and taking a precautionary approach in relation to the extremely small risk of thrombosis and thrombocytopenia following the first dose of the Oxford/AstraZeneca vaccine, the JCVI has advised a preference for adults aged 30 to 39 without underlying health conditions to receive an alternative to the Oxford/AstraZeneca vaccine where available and only if this does not cause substantial delays in being vaccinated.

Astra Zeneca Vaccine and Travel
Following reports in the media that some EU countries would not accept AZ vaccine manufactured in India known as Covishield, the Government has confirmed that no Covishield vaccines have been administered in the UK and that all AZ vaccines given in the UK appear on the NHS COVID Pass as Vaxzevria. The NHS COVID Pass is the digital proof of COVID-19 vaccine status, which has been available for international travel since May. The European Medicines Agency has authorised this vaccine and the Government is confident that travel will not be affected. The EU Digital Covid-19 Certificate is currently for EU citizens only, or third country nationals legally staying or resident in the EU. eConsult is a triage service. Please note you may receive a call or text to advise that a call has been scheduled at a later date with the appropriate clinician. Do not use eConsult for urgent medical advice or for requesting prescriptions. eConsult is also for one clinical concern.  If you have complex or mutliple concerns, we recommend that you call the surgery and schedule a telephone consultation.  When the surgery is closed or it is a public holiday, please use 111 to avoid delays for urgent advice/enquiries.  As part of a CCG trial, eConsult is currently not available over weekends.

New Patient Registrations

New patient registrations  
New patients can register in person with the practice Monday - Friday between 1300-1800. Please avoid other times as this will create a queue at reception and a delay to those arriving for pre-booked appointments.  We will require completion of a Patient Registration Form and Confidential Health Questionnaire to ensure the Practice can fully assist with your health care needs.  Download the registration forms as follows:

Your NHS card is no longer required when you register, however you will need to provide 2 forms of identification such as a driver's licence with photo or passport (photographic evidence, where possible, for an adult) and one that includes your home address such as a recent utility bill. For children, we require the child's birth certificate or passport as ID.

As a new patient, to ensure continuity of any regular medication please provide us with one of the following to prevent delays in repeat prescriptions:

  • Your most recent repeat prescription slip
  • Confirmation letter from your previous surgery
  • Ongoing medication packaging clearly marked with your name and address, and prescription details.

When you register at Richmond Surgery you will be allocated a GP.  Richmond Surgery offers Registered Patient Lists and not Pooled GP Lists. We endeavour to ensure that you can see or speak to your own registered GP when you attend surgery.  There will of course be times when your GP is not available.  In the absence of your Registered GP, the practice has in place an excellent secure patient IT system allowing any of our other GPs/locums to attend to your needs. This is usually done by way of triage, initially telephone consultation, and you will then be asked to attend if required.

17/8/21 Please be aware there is a global shortage of BT vials. General Practice is therefore under strict instructions to only undertake urgent or GP clinically required blood tests. At this time we are not able to perform any routine or regular annual blood tests. If you are unsure, please speak to our reception team or your GP for clarification. Thank you for your assistance in this matter.

Flu Vaccination Season 2021-22

We have now commenced booking of flu vaccine appointments at the Surgery.  Please note we are notifying patients by eligibility in stages to ensure we can cope with contact demand. A proportion of appts are being released online for those who use our online services.  The new eligible cohort of 50-64 has been confirmed as continuing for the 21/22 flu season.
